About the methodology

The Good Start® methodology focuses on the development of young children’s social and emotional skills. Using the principles of the Good Start contributes to the mental health of children and parents.

The Good Start® for Parents

Develops non-confrontational ways of communication and problem solving

Teaches parents a positive attitude

Develops friendly relationships with children and adults

Leads children to independence, but not to arbitrariness

Teaches parents how to prevent behavioural problems of children and how to manage children's anger and resistance

Happy children, managed emotions and conflict-free coexistence

The Good Start methodology helps teachers to use concrete practices and tools to teach children good habits and attitudes for life, to deal with the differences, different habits and patterns of behaviour that children bring from their family environment.

The Good Start® develops

Self-control

It teaches children the steps to recognize and control negative emotions such as anger, rage or sadness.

Self-awareness

It teaches children to notice their reactions and moods, to talk about how it affects other children and adults.

Troubleshooting

It teaches children to talk about and understand the reasons and consequences of problem situations, providing guidance for finding solutions.

Social consciousness

It teaches children empathy and friendly behaviour, to notice others around them and offer help.

Ability to establish relationships

It teaches children to make new contacts and friendships, prevent conflicts and loneliness.

Responsible decision making

It teaches children to consciously set and follow rules, leading them to understand why rules are important through demonstration and practice.

It's important for parents to get the message about the change in their appraoch to parenting. That it is not important to be able to punish children, but to be able to praise them. That it is good to set rules so that mothers and children can agree on them together.
