KiVa is an innovative anti-bullying program developed through cutting-edge research in more than 1,000 schools in Finland and elsewhere (the program has been further implemented, e.g. in the Netherlands, Estonia, Italy and Wales). It builds on the rich experience of previous intervention programs aimed at preventing and tackling bullying. It is a comprehensive approach that includes a wide range of tools. The program focuses on teachers, students and parents, thanks to which it includes various activities throughout the school year.
The aim of the project is to build and strengthen the ability to identify manifestations of bullying in a timely manner and at the same time provide instructions for dealing with existing cases. The success of the project is reflected not only in a significant reduction of bullying in the participating schools., but also in a positive impact on the motivation of students to study, academic achievements and also through a positive impact on students’ mental health and classroom climate.
