Schola Empirica z.s., Prague based NGO, the winner of prestigious EDUin award, for its innovative methodology on developing social, emotional and cognitive skills of pre-school children, this autumn organizes the conference titled “Good Start for All: Bridging the gap between formal and informal educators”. The conference is planned to be held ONLINE on the 15th of September, 2020, and will discuss with many local and international professionals, experts, and researchers the newest strategies and good practices in cooperation between formal and informal educators.

This conference is the culmination of an Erasmus + GSA project –  “Good Start for All: development of inclusive education methods for pre-school children for socially disadvantaged or culturally different environments”. The project was designed to help improve collaboration/cooperation between non-formal educators and actors in mainstream education. Furthermore, the project also aimed at illuminating inclusive methods of learning and teaching children from disadvantaged environments in order to facilitate a successful transition from informal educational settings, such as children centers and clubs to mainstream education.

Conference participants will learn innovative teaching tools/strategies through presentations and interactive workshops that will help conference attendees in their objective of preparing young children from socioeconomically disadvantaged or culturally different environments for their future schooling. Conference will equip the audience with new methodologies and a larger toolbox to tackle issues surrounding socially disadvantaged children.

Ultimately, the conference will help to understand the importance of cooperation between formal and informal educators. Participants will learn inclusive methods of teaching through workshops designed for parents and teachers that could support education of children from socially disadvantaged or culturally different environments. In addition to the introduction of novel ideas towards education, the conference presents a great opportunity for attendees to expand their professional network and develop beneficial partnerships across the EU.

The list of international speakers includes Egle Havrdová, Schola Empirica (Czechia), Mojca Williams, Language in Your Hands (the UK), Alexandra Konopka, Społeczna Akademia Nauk (Poland), Cecillia Torstensson, Centrum för flexibelt lärande (Sweden), Hälsinglands utbildningsförbund, Miroslav Sklenka, Škola dokorán – Wide Open School (Slovakia).

The conference will be held only ONLINE due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
