Celebrating 15 years of Prague Summer Schools (PSS)

You are here:

The upcoming summer marks the 15th anniversary of Prague Summer Schools. In 2004 the Czech Republic joined the EU and the Czech nation was about to start a new chapter, full of new prospects and challenges. Young Czech scholars came up with an idea to organize a summer course in Prague and as a result, the Summer School on Lobbying in Brussels 2004 was launched. Since then, Prague Summer Schools keep on bringing together motivated undergraduate and graduate students of various academic backgrounds coming from different parts of the world to enjoy their holidays in a unique learning and cultural environment. Our Alumnus has reached out the number of 2112 students!
Prague Summer Schools are week-long academic courses, organized annually by Schola Empirica. The aim of Prague Summer Schools is to increase the students’ understanding of competing opinions and relevant research on the topic of their choice allowing them to form their own critical understanding of the addressed issues. For its 15th edition, Prague Summer Schools 2019 offer six summer programs designed for Bachelor, Master, and PhD students. Students may choose the program from a broad range of disciplines within social sciences, including: Law, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Education, Behavioral economics, International relations, European, Asian and Developmental studies. Last year, the Prague Summer Schools gathered 120 talented students, from 40 different countries and 60 nationalities. During intensive week-long academic courses, PSS2018 participants had the opportunity to foster the dialogue with academics and practitioners as well as exchange ideas across borders and cultures. The international faculty of PSS, coming from such countries as the United Kingdom, United States of America, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, etc., together with a PSS management staff make sure to keep the teaching content out to date. „I enjoyed the program, the structure, combination of activities and the kind organizers!
